(a) The periods in the periodic system, except for the first period, are repeated. The length of the periods is consistent with quantum predictions; however, development of the shells is not K-L-M-N-O-P-Q but rather K-L-L-M-M-N-N.
(b) The double periodicity of the L, M, and N shells is visibly present in any characteristic features of the elements. As an example the first ionization energy of the element has been plotted.
